Wolverine slot game review

Wolverine made his first comic book appearance in the Incredible Hulk comic books in 1974. More recently he has reemerged as one of the stars of the X-Men series of motion pictures. The Wolverine slot game from Cryptologic marks his first appearance on a slot machine.

The game is part of the Marvel Jackpot series found at all Wagerlogic casinos. All games in the series feature a random three tier jackpot link. These jackpots hit at random and do not require you to line up any specific symbols.

Wolverine uses the popular 5 reel, 25 line format and has two bonus features. The top jackpot on the reels is 3000 coins which is won by hitting five of the wild Wolverine symbols on any active pay line. The wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols except the scattered Sabretooth symbols.

The Wolverine symbol also initiates the first bonus feature. Get three or more wilds anywhere on the reels and you win a re-spin bonus. The wild symbols are held and the rest of the reels re-spin once. This makes for some interesting game play as if you miss the jackpot by one or two symbols you get another chance at hitting the top jackpot.

Second highest pay is for the five scattered Sabretooth symbols which pay 100 times your bet or 2500 coins if you are playing all lines. Third highest win is 1500 coins for five James Howlett (Wolverines alter ego) symbols. From here five symbol pays range from 500 to 100 coins.

The scattered Sabretooth symbols activate the Wolverine Vs Sabretooth bonus stage. Get three or more and you move on to the second screen where you get to see a great animation of a fight between the two rivals. (Screenshot). Here you have three attack style choices - Slash, Kick and Ballistic.

Selecting one of the attack styles make Wolverine attack Sabretooth. If your attack is successful you are awarded a random win amount. You get to continue until either Wolverine or Sabretooth is beaten. If you manage to defeat Sabretooth you get an addition bonus added to your feature payout.

Wolverine is an entertaining video slot to play. The re-spin feature gives you a slightly better chance of hitting the top jackpot and the bonus screen stage features impressive graphics and the chance at some nice wins.

Playtech Online Casinos Attack CryptoLogic Superhero Niche

Playtech announced the signing of a deal with Marvel Entertainment which will allow the gaming company to use Marvel characters for online gambling applications as well as its other casino brands.

Playtech has moved to counter online casino software competitor CryptoLogic's deal with DC Comics. Playtech announced the signing of a deal with Marvel Entertainment which will allow the gaming company to use Marvel characters for online gambling applications as well as its other casino brands.

Such superhero characters as Spider-Man, Blade, the X-Men, Iron Man, and the Fantastic Four will be available for Playtech use under a multi-year licensing agreement. Playtech products involving poker, bingo, and casino gambling on mobile and online systems will be able to incorporate the comic book figures.

CryptoLogic has had a deal in place with Marvel, leading to a number of highly popular video slot machines. CryptoLogic recently expanded its range to ink a new contract with DC Comics that brings such strong brands as Batman and Superman to the software provider's games.

But Playtech's new arrangement reveals cracks in the CryptoLogic control of the superhero universe. Worse for CryptoLogic, the company's current licensing with Marvel expires next year. Potentially, Playtech and CryptoLogic may align with the two competing comic book realities, a major disppointment for CryptoLogic should it occur.

"This agreement is a major stepping stone for Playtech, as it will greatly extend the commercial appeal and cross-selling opportunities of our products. Branded slots are a good way of diversifying our product and attracting new players," said Playtech CEO Mor Weizer.

Online Casino Software Provider Playtech Signs Deal With Marvel

The world of online casino software providers is a competitive one. When one provider signs a deal, their rivals immediately want to one up them. That could be the case with CryptoLogic and Playtech.

CryptoLogic has a deal in place with Marvel to create Internet casino games based off of comic characters. The deal runs through 2010, but the company will no longer be the only provider of Marvel comic type games.

Playtech has recently signed a deal to develop games based off of the Marvel brand. Characters such as X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man are just a few of the options that are now available to Playtech.

"This agreement is a major stepping stone for Playtech, as it will greatly extend the commercial appeal and cross-selling opportunities of our product," said Mor Weizer, Chief executive Officer of Playtech, "...our customers can now enjoy games with Playtech's market leading software featuring up-to-date Marvel film characters, which have a truly mass market appeal."

The competition between the two software providers will now become heated. If Playtech develops games based on the Marvel characters that surpass those of CryptoLogic, it could severely hurt the CryptoLogic brand. In contrast, the Marvel deal for Playtech will be useless if their games are not on par with CryptoLogic's already existing offerings.

"It will be interesting to see how the Playtech's games stack up against CryptoLogic's. It is clear that this agreement was a direct attempt to show that the Playtech platform can compete with any other that is available. It is a risk, but one that could pay big dividends to Playtech should they succeed" said one industry insider.

Playtech Can Use Marvel Legends Too

CryptoLogic's branded games will have some serious competition

March 3, 2009 (InfoPowa News) -- In a surprise move, online gambling software and games developer Playtech plc has signed a licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment Inc. allowing it to include Marvel film properties such as The Incredible Hulk and the Fantastic Four in its branded games inventory.

The achievement means significant competition for fellow software developer CryptoLogic, which signed an agreement to use the same Marvel characters in its games last year.

The exclusive multi-year licensing agreement with Marvel Characters B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., allows Playtech to use Marvel's motion picture brands, giving it the right to use iconic Marvel film brand legends such as "The Incredible Hulk", "Fantastic Four", "X-Men", "Iron Man" and "Blade", amongst others.

Playtech will be able to use these brands across all of its gaming products including casino, poker, bingo and on all of its platforms, online, mobile and T.V. platforms, as well as on server-based gaming terminals, via the Playtech subsidiary, Videobet.

Mor Weizer, Chief Executive Officer of Playtech, commented: "This agreement is a major stepping stone for Playtech, as it will greatly extend the commercial appeal and cross-selling opportunities of our products. Branded slots are a good way of diversifying our product and attracting new players.

"Our customers can now enjoy games with Playtech's market leading software featuring up-to-date Marvel film characters, which have a truly mass market appeal. The proven strength of these brands will allow our licensees to gain market share using the strength of our product. We look forward to working with such a globally renowned and respected company as Marvel to provide an exciting gaming experience for our customers and their players."
